To set Birkat haMazon according to the various ancient formulations which are extant, like the prayer book of Rav Amram Gaon and others, which have a closer affinity to the traditions of our fathers who were in the Land of Israel, in order to bring unity among those faithful to Israel and its customers, so that there will no longer be separate groups.  Aside from that achievement, there is also an advantage to accustom the public to actively make the blessing on setting a meal on "mezonot", by reducing the effort involved in saying a long Birkat haMazon, which is not required.

Liturgical ruling on Birkat haMazon prayer according to its various formulations
