Revision as of 11:03, 15 May 2009

The Secretariat criticizes the justice system which seems to have taken the media as its partner. The Special Court for Nation and State does not say that either Ramon or Katzav were innocent or guilty. Nothing can be said about either case, as neither has been presented before the court. What can be said, is the way these cases have been handled has fallen short of what is required by Jewish law, and in the opinion of the Secretariat, will be unable to achieve justice.

After the complainant’s picture was published as it was [with all the media intervention in this case], in a society in which there is no fear of the Almighty and moral restraint [in politics, the media or the courts] there is no reason to expect different behavior on the part of the defendant [to play to the media].

Also concerning the indictment of the President, the credibility of witnesses, including their professions and character; the way testimony was acquired and testimony was hidden; the ways in which certain witnesses were prevented from giving evidence, or collected in an illegal manner; are enough to rule out any possibility of achieving justice

The involvement of the media, presenting its own evidence, testimony and verdict only serves to foil any possibility of a fair trial.
